We aren't professional organizers; we are ordinary people committed to action in extraordinary times.
Interested in getting involved? Come to our General Meetings on the first Wednesday of every month! And be sure to sign up for our mailing list here. It’s just one email per week with the most strategic ways of taking action with us and our coalition partners to build a path toward a progressive democratic future from right here in Brooklyn. You can find our most recent weekly email here.
Our Mission
Indivisible Brooklyn (INBK) is an all-volunteer, grassroots organization in Brooklyn dedicated to promoting civic participation and engagement in the fight for justice, sustainability, and equality. We use the Indivisible Guide's five strategies — calls/letter campaigns, demonstrations, meetings, public events, and elections — to push our local, state, and federal representatives to resist authoritarianism, corruption, and intolerance; protect democracy; and stand up for our communities.
Our Teams
We currently have several teams, and you are welcome to join one or more!
Advocacy: plans actions to pressure our federal, state, and local officials to fight for democracy and justice. We organize constituent meetings with electeds, protests, letters and call campaigns. To advance our policy priorities, we work with coalitions to learn from other organizations’ expertise, support their efforts, and build power and solidarity across the city. We also have working groups for each of Brooklyn’s congressional districts tracking what our electeds are doing and helping our members use their power as constituents to hold their own representatives accountable.
Electoral: plans all of our electoral work, such as our endorsement process and our support for our endorsed candidates by canvassing, phone banking, text banking, postcarding, etc. There are no “off years” in the fight for democracy, so our Electoral Team organizes nonstop to build progressive power at every level of government through both primaries and general elections.
Disrupt: focuses on rallies, protests, birddogging, and art building. INBK has organized and cosponsored large marches, like No Kings and Hands Off, and smaller, more focused events, such as several long-form vigils and sit-ins at Malliotakis’ office, and more actions outside Schumer’s Brooklyn home than we can count!
And our Coordinating Team thinks through big-picture goals and processes, plans our monthly meetings, and helps INBK run smoothly.
